North India may get slight relief from heatwave; thunderstorm, rain possible between May 4-7

Parts of northern India may get slight relief from the ongoing heatwave between May 4 and 7. According to a tweet by Independent forecaster, Mahesh Palawat, a pre-monsoon dust storm, thunderstorms and rain is possible in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and west Uttar Pradesh.

Mahesh Palawat, the Vice president of Meteorology and climate change at SkymetWeather, took to Twitter to share the forecast.

His tweet says, “Relief from ongoing #Heat wave is expected by may 4th. #Pre monsoon #dust storm, #Thunderstorm and #rain is possible between May 4 and 7. Mostly during late afternoon/evening over #Punjab, #Haryana, #Delhi & west #UP”

Delhi experienced a severe heatwave on Wednesday after a brief respite of six days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a heatwave for today as well as the maximum temperature is expected to reach 44 degrees Celsius on Thursday.

As per the report by the weather department, the maximum temperature reached 41.5 degrees Celsius in Safdarjung, three notches above the season’s average.
