Politician couple at the eye of Maharashtra’s Hanuman Chalisa storm
Bharatiya Janata Party MP Navneet Rana and MLA husband Ravi Rana grabbed media attention after making threats of reciting Hanuman Chalisa outside Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s private residence.
The leaders were arrested under section 353 of the Indian Penal Code, which deals with assault or use of criminal force against a public servant in the execution of his duty. The Ranas denied the charges and claimed they were framed.

WHO IS RAVI RANA?
Ravi Rana was elected an MLA from Maharashta’s Badnera Assembly for the first time in 2009. He has worked closely with the people from this seat, who are mostly poor and live in slum areas. Ravi’s social work won him the seat in 2009. He has since been elected three times from Badnera.
Ravi Rana owns a construction business in Amravati. At the age of 15, Ravi Rana used to work while also pursuing his studies. He used to provide drinking water to students appearing for Class 10 exams. He used to receive very little money but continued doing it as a social service. As he grew older, Ravi started working as a sales executive in a clothing shop while pursuing his studies in college.
WHO IS NAVNEET RANA?
MP Navneet Rana was born on February 3, 1986 in Mumbai. Her father was a government officer and mother a housewife.
Navneet Kaur completed her graduation in commerce and did modeling gigs as a hobby. She became a successful actress in films. Initially, she worked in six music albums. After that, she made her debut in the Southern film industry with a Kannada movie.
After marriage, Navneet became active in politics. In 2014, she contested the Lok Sabha elections, on an SC ticket. But she was defeated by the then Shiv Sena MP Anandrao Adsul. In 2019 Lok Sabha elections, she contested as an independent and stunned everyone with a victory.
GOT MARRIED IN 2011
The two met at Baba Ramdev’s yoga camp in Mumbai. Ravi Rana was an MLA and Navneet Rana was a film actress. Their friendship started in the camp and later the duo decided to get married. They had a simple wedding in Amravati. It was a mass wedding where 4120 other couples were also wedded. The couple have a son and a daughter.
