US immigration: Mexico steps up migrant crackdown

The Trump administration has been leaning hard on Mexico to stop Central American migrants from making their way to the United States.

Mexico hopes it has met conditions of a July 22 deadline on a deal that will remove the threat of tariffs on Mexican exports to the US.

But critics have warned the crackdown could lead to human rights abuses.
